    Halloween Costume!

Finally! I finally did another piece on Essentials! xD I might use it more now that I started school because when I have tons of free time, doing computer art is such a hassel for some reason, but it's a huge stress relief when I'm at school... Well until I start getting so much work that I won't have time for it... I would rather not think about that though. Anyhoo, on to the drawing!

So usually I don't bother even thinking about holidays more than a week or two ahead of time. But I was hanging out with my friends at a shopping center yesterday and one of my friends suggested we go into Party City and look at halloween costumes. So that got me thinking... what should be my costume this year? I decided that I want to be a stereotypical artist. Like with an apron and a beret... and a giant wooden palette that in real life would be incredibly annoying to hold. I was bored so I drew a picture of me wearing the exact costume I want to make... That's my new haircut! (Yay :D)

Brushes: fine point pen, basic round (water), wash (water)

Sorry about the quality. I don't know what's up with that. I'll save my pictures higher quality next time...

And, in conclusion, this is my signature.

Great picture Melissa, I just love that beret! How did you get on with the greeting card idea by the way?

I love the colors, the drawing and the way the background gives depth to the image. Great job!

A lovely drawing as always Melissa, in fact it is so good it needs finishing off. The artist looks as if she is floating in mid-air, the background is fine, but there is no trace of a surface on which the artist is standing, and if there was, together with a shadow cast onto the surface it would improve the picture. I hope you find time to work on it Melissa, because it is already outstanding, but if you go the extra mile it could be amazing. It's nice to see you pop in from time to time, we really do look forward to your art.

I actually like this way better than having her standing on a surface. It gives it a different feel. I don't know if there's a term for it, but I've seen images like this where the subject is "floating" in a space of ...well, space. Of course this is my opinion. Kirk

Nice drawing Melissa.  I think a little shadow below the feet would help but you did an excellant job and I like the hair cut.  You should be a hit at Halloween.

    Thanks everyone for your comments!
Anne: Thanks! Ahh I haven't gotten anywhere on it. Unfortunatly I'm way too busy.

Tolouse: Thanks also! Well originally this was supposed to be just a drawing with no background at all but then I decided it was kinda boring so I did a quick 5 minute background setting a scene or an October day. But I'll definitly try a shadow or something. Maybe I'll make it a bit more detailed too (but not too much).

And, in conclusion, this is my signature.
