Using more than one palette type in cloning a picture

Has anyone tried this: I took a photo of an orchard, put it up in photo painting, with an "intense" color palette. I used the bristle oil cloner,  but the results seemed to compress the background into the foreground, so I changed the color palette to "saturated", then recloned the background trees only using the new palettte and a slightly larger brush. This effectively pushed them back, and the painting is now for sale on Zazzle as a print!. If you want to see it, go to www.zazzle.com/pyrabird*
