Classiebawn Castle - Mullaghmore - County Sligo - West Coast of Ireland

Mullaghmore is for me paradise on earth, a perfect little fishing village on the atlantic coastline of Ireland, and a favourite holiday haunt as a child. The sea fishing was magnificent, as were the lobsters. This castle was the home of Lord Mountbatten, until he was blown to bits which may have seemed a great coup by the IRA, but methinks a tragic error of judgement, and no way to win friends. This one was a straight van gogh to give an impression of the place, and if you ever visit Ireland, the Emerald Isle, please put this place on your agenda, you will never want to leave.

It's a striking picture, the sky is beautiful. However there's something about the different tones in the sky, compared to the land/sea, which worry me a bit in this painting. It almost looks to me as if there are two different shots, though I take it that you used just one?

I agree Anne, it happened during the painting process, it seemed to treat the edges differently, but I may rework this one in a different style to see what happens. I didn't put a sky in, it was a straight shot, you are quite right.

Thanks Ric - but the credit must go to Kirk, it was he who told me about how to use the Van Gogh method when I asked him how he had done one of his paintings. I had seen it but until then never used it, and it does have its uses for sure.
